Two spirited vintage Japanese Kokeshi dolls crafted by Kokeshi artisans in Togatta, Miyagi prefecture, Japan. The dolls represent mother and child and are hand crafted from wood with their maker’s mark painted on the bottom of each doll. I am selling as a set with the beautiful silk scarf you can see in the photos. A magical traditional present for a child, expecting mother or anyone looking to add some wonder to their shelves.

Kokeshi dolls are Japanese wooden dolls, traditionally made as toys for children. Although thinking on their spiritual significance often varies, they are generally thought to bring abundance and good fortune to their owner and are a fine example of traditional Japanese folk art.

Varnished wood. Scarf - 100% silk.

Condition:

Beautiful vintage condition - a little natural fading to the paint work.

Child : 9 cm high (3 and 1/2 inches)
